Netanel, son of Suar, was the chosen leader and chief of the tribe of Issachar during the wilderness journey. He was appointed by God to assist Moses in the census at the Sinai desert, and he brought the tribe's offering at the dedication of the tabernacle. He represented the tribe of Issachar on all official occasions during the wilderness journey.
God commanded Moses to appoint Nathanel, son of Zuar, as leader and representative of the tribe of Issachar during the census in the wilderness of Sinai.
28The descendants of Issachar: all the men twenty years old and upward who were fit for military service were listed by name, according to their genealogy, by clan and family.
Nathanel, son of Zuar, brought his offering on the second day during the dedication of the tabernacle's altar. His gift included a silver plate, a silver bowl, a gold spoon filled with incense, and various sacrificial animals.
19The offering he brought was one silver plate weighing a hundred and thirty shekels and one silver basin of seventy shekels, by the sanctuary shekel, both of them filled with fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering;
23and for the fellowship offering, two oxen, five rams, five male goats, and five male lambs a year old. This was the offering of Nethanel son of Zuar.
When the people of Israel broke camp from the wilderness of Sinai, the tribe of Issachar marched under Nathanel's leadership as part of Judah's division.
