Tobias
The Faithful Son from Exile
Tobias is the main character in the Book of Tobit, a deuterocanonical/apocryphal text. He is the son of Tobit, a devout Israelite in exile in Nineveh, and was sent on a dangerous journey to Media where, with the help of the angel Raphael, he healed his father and married Sarah. Tobias is an example of obedience, faith, and God's providence in difficult times.

Tobit's Blindness and Prayer
Tobias' father Tobit became blind after an accident, and his prayer to God for help set in motion the events that led to Tobias' journey.
Tobias Sent to Media
Tobit sent his son Tobias to Media to retrieve money deposited with Gabael, and the angel Raphael, disguised as a traveling companion named Azarias, joined him.
The Fish in the Tigris
During the journey, Tobias caught a large fish in the Tigris River. Raphael instructed him to keep the fish's heart, liver, and gall, which would later be used for healing and protection.
The Marriage of Sarah
Tobias married Sarah, the daughter of Raguel, who had been tormented by the demon Asmodeus. By burning the heart and liver of a fish, Tobias drove out the demon with God's help.
The Healing of Tobit
When Tobias returned to Nineveh, he applied the gall of the fish to his father's eyes, and Tobit regained his sight after his long blindness.
Revelation of Raphael
After the healing, the angel Raphael revealed his true identity as one of the seven archangels who stand before God's presence, and he encouraged the family to praise God for His goodness.
