Us (Hebrew: עוּץ) was the son of Aram and the grandson of Shem, Noah's son. He is known as the patriarch of the people and land of Uz, which later became the home of the righteous Job. The name Us is also associated with other individuals in the Bible, including a son of Nahor, Abraham's brother.

The land of Uz as Job's homeland

The land of Uz was the home of the righteous Job, known for his piety and suffering. The land was likely named after the patriarch Us.

1There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job. That man was blameless and upright; he feared God and turned away from evil.

The prophet Jeremiah mentions the land of Uz in connection with Edom's daughter, who must also drink from God's cup of wrath.
