David Conquers Rabbah

Joab leads the army out and besieges Rabbah, the capital of the Ammonites, while David remains in Jerusalem. When the city is captured, David comes and takes the king's gold crown, which weighs a talent, and places it on his own head. He brings out great plunder from the city and sets its inhabitants to work with saws, iron picks, and axes, before returning to Jerusalem. 1 Chronicles 20:1-3

Första Krönikeboken 20,1-3

1In the spring of the year, at the time when kings march out to war, Joab led out the armed forces and ravaged the land of the Ammonites. He came and laid siege to Rabbah, while David remained in Jerusalem. Joab struck Rabbah down and destroyed it.
2David took the crown from the head of their king. He found that it weighed a talent of gold and was set with a precious stone, and he placed it on his own head. He also carried off a great quantity of plunder from the city. [Footnote: The Hebrew word rendered "their king" (malkam) may also be read as the name of the Ammonite god Milcom.]
3He brought out the people who were in it and set them to labor with saws, iron picks, and axes. David did the same to all the cities of the Ammonites. Then David and all the troops returned to Jerusalem. [Footnote: The Hebrew verb is uncertain; it may also mean that David cut or sawed the captives, that is, subjected them to harsh punishment.]
