The Lord's Judgment on the Unbelieving Generation

When the people refused to believe in the Lord despite his care for them in Egypt and the wilderness, the Lord became angry and swore that none of the men from that evil generation would see the good land he had promised their fathers by oath. Only Caleb, son of Jephunneh, who followed the Lord wholeheartedly, was spared and received the promise of the land where he had set his foot. Moses also heard that he would not enter there because of the people, while Joshua, son of Nun, was to lead Israel into their inheritance. The little children, whom the people feared would be taken as plunder, would themselves receive the land as their possession.
