Og was king of Bashan and the last survivor of the Rephaim, a people of giants. He was defeated by the Israelites under Moses' leadership, and his kingdom was given to half the tribe of Manasseh. He is known for his enormous iron bed, which was nine cubits long.

Battle against Israel at Edrei
Og went out with all his army to meet the Israelites in battle at Edrei, but the Lord gave him into Israel's hand.
34The LORD said to Moses, "Do not be afraid of him, for I have given him into your hand, along with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon."
2But the LORD said to me, "Do not fear him, for I have given him into your hand, along with all his people and his land. Do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon."
4At that time we captured all his cities; there was not a town we did not take from them—sixty cities, the whole region of Argob, the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
And he is described as the last surviving Rephaim. His iron bed was nine cubits long and four cubits wide, and it was preserved in Rabbah among the Ammonites.
11For only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the Rephaim. His bed was a bed of iron; it is still in Rabbah of the Ammonites, nine cubits long and four cubits wide, by the common cubit.
13The rest of Gilead and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, I gave to the half-tribe of Manasseh—the whole region of Argob, all of Bashan. It used to be called the land of the Rephaim.
