13 On that very day Noah entered the ark, together with Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Noah's sons, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons. hebr בְּעֶ֨צֶם הַיּ֤וֹם הַזֶּה֙ בָּ֣א נֹ֔חַ וְשֵׁם־וְחָ֥ם וָיֶ֖פֶת בְּנֵי־נֹ֑חַ וְאֵ֣שֶׁת נֹ֗חַ וּשְׁלֹ֧שֶׁת נְשֵֽׁי־בָנָ֛יו אִתָּ֖ם אֶל־הַתֵּבָֽה׃
After the waters receded, Ham went out of the ark with his father, his brothers, and their wives to repopulate the earth.
18 So Noah came out, together with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives. hebr וַיֵּ֖צֵא־נֹ֑חַ וּבָנָ֛יו וְאִשְׁתּ֥וֹ וּנְשֵֽׁי־בָנָ֖יו אִתּֽוֹ׃
19 Every animal, every creeping thing, and every bird—everything that moves on the earth—came out of the ark, one kind after another. hebr כָּל־הֽ͏ַחַיָּ֗ה כָּל־הָרֶ֙מֶשׂ֙ וְכָל־הָע֔וֹף כֹּ֖ל רוֹמֵ֣שׂ עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ לְמִשְׁפְּחֹ֣תֵיהֶ֔ם יָצְא֖וּ מִן־הַתֵּבָֽה׃
When Noah became drunk from wine and lay naked in his tent, Ham saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers instead of covering him.
20 Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard. hebr וַיָּ֥חֶל נֹ֖חַ אִ֣ישׁ הֽ͏ָאֲדָמָ֑ה וַיִּטַּ֖ע כָּֽרֶם׃
21 He drank some of the wine, became drunk, and lay uncovered inside his tent. hebr וַיֵּ֥שְׁתְּ מִן־הַיַּ֖יִן וַיִּשְׁכָּ֑ר וַיִּתְגַּ֖ל בְּת֥וֹךְ אָהֳלֹֽה׃
22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside. hebr וַיַּ֗רְא חָ֚ם אֲבִ֣י כְנַ֔עַן אֵ֖ת עֶרְוַ֣ת אָבִ֑יו וַיַּגֵּ֥ד לִשְׁנֵֽי־אֶחָ֖יו בַּחֽוּץ׃
When Noah awoke and understood what had happened, he cursed Ham's son Canaan to be a servant to his brothers.
24 When Noah awoke from his wine and learned what his youngest son had done to him, hebr וַיִּ֥יקֶץ נֹ֖חַ מִיֵּינ֑וֹ וַיֵּ֕דַע אֵ֛ת אֲשֶׁר־עָ֥שָׂה־ל֖וֹ בְּנ֥וֹ הַקָּטָֽן׃
25 he said, "Cursed be Canaan! He will be the lowest of slaves to his brothers." hebr וַיֹּ֖אמֶר אָר֣וּר כְּנָ֑עַן עֶ֥בֶד עֲבָדִ֖ים יִֽהְיֶ֥ה לְאֶחָֽיו׃
26 He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be his slave. hebr וַיֹּ֕אמֶר בָּר֥וּךְ יְהֹוָ֖ה אֱלֹ֣הֵי שֵׁ֑ם וִיהִ֥י כְנַ֖עַן עֶ֥בֶד לָֽמוֹ׃
27 May God extend Japheth's territory, and may he dwell in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave." hebr יַ֤פְתְּ אֱלֹהִים֙ לְיֶ֔פֶת וְיִשְׁכֹּ֖ן בְּאָֽהֳלֵי־שֵׁ֑ם וִיהִ֥י כְנַ֖עַן עֶ֥בֶד לָֽמוֹ׃
Ham's descendants spread out and became many nations, including the Egyptians (Mizraim), Cushites, Putites, and Canaanites who settled in areas of Africa and the Middle East.
6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Egypt, Put, and Canaan. hebr וּבְנֵ֖י חָ֑ם כּ֥וּשׁ וּמִצְרַ֖יִם וּפ֥וּט וּכְנָֽעַן׃
7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah, and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. hebr וּבְנֵ֣י כ֔וּשׁ סְבָא֙ וֽ͏ַחֲוִילָ֔ה וְסַבְתָּ֥ה וְרַעְמָ֖ה וְסַבְתְּכָ֑א וּבְנֵ֥י רַעְמָ֖ה שְׁבָ֥א וּדְדָֽן׃
8 Cush fathered Nimrod, who was the first to become a mighty man on the earth. hebr וְכ֖וּשׁ יָלַ֣ד אֶת־נִמְרֹ֑ד ה֣וּא הֵחֵ֔ל לֽ͏ִהְי֥וֹת גִּבֹּ֖ר בָּאָֽרֶץ׃
20 These are the sons of Ham, by their clans and languages, in their lands and nations. hebr אֵ֣לֶּה בְנֵי־חָ֔ם לְמִשְׁפְּחֹתָ֖ם לִלְשֹֽׁנֹתָ֑ם בְּאַרְצֹתָ֖ם בְּגוֹיֵהֶֽם׃ ס
