Lud was one of Shem's five sons and a grandson of Noah. He is regarded as the ancestor of the Ludim, a people traditionally associated with Lydia in Asia Minor. Lud is mentioned in the Bible's genealogies as part of the group that spread out after the flood.

Lud Mentioned Among Distant Nations

The prophet Isaiah mentions Lud among distant nations to whom God will send survivors to proclaim His glory among the peoples.

19I will set a sign among them, and from among them I will send survivors to the nations—to Tarshish, to Put and Lud who draw the bow, to Tubal and Greece, and to the distant coastlands that have never heard my fame or seen my glory. And they will proclaim my glory among the nations.

Lud as a Warrior People in Ezekiel

The prophet Ezekiel mentions Lud (the Ludites) among peoples who served as mercenaries and warriors, along with other nations.

10Persia, Lud, and Put served in your army as your fighting men. They hung their shields and helmets on your walls and gave you your splendor.

Lud in Ezekiel's Prophecy of Judgment
