David organizes the kingdom and appoints officials
David rules over all Israel with justice and righteousness. He organizes the kingdom with Joab as commander, Jehoshaphat as recorder, Zadok and Ahimelech as priests, Seraiah as scribe, and Benaiah over the Cherethites and Pelethites.
2 Samuel 8,15-18
15So David reigned over all Israel, administering justice and righteousness for all his people.
וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ דָּוִ֖ד עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַיְהִ֣י דָוִ֗ד עֹשֶׂ֛ה מִשְׁפָּ֥ט וּצְדָקָ֖ה לְכָל־עַמּֽוֹ׃
16Joab son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder;
וְיוֹאָ֥ב בֶּן־צְרוּיָ֖ה עַל־הַצָּבָ֑א וִיהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט בֶּן־אֲחִיל֖וּד מַזְכִּֽיר׃
17Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests; Seraiah was secretary;
וְצָד֧וֹק בֶּן־אֲחִיט֛וּב וַאֲחִימֶ֥לֶךְ בֶּן־אֶבְיָתָ֖ר כֹּהֲנִ֑ים וּשְׂרָיָ֖ה סוֹפֵֽר׃
18Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites; and David's sons were priests.[^1]
