The Unclean Spirit Returns with Seven Others
Jesus describes how an unclean spirit that has left a person wanders through dry places looking for rest. When it finds none, it returns to its house and finds it swept and put in order. It then takes with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, so that the person's last state becomes worse than the first. Luke 11:24-26
Luke 11,24-26
24When an unclean spirit comes out of a person, it wanders through waterless places seeking rest, and finding none it says, 'I will go back to my house, the one I came out of.'
Ὅταν τὸ ἀκάθαρτον πνεῦμα ἐξέλθῃ ἀπὸ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου, διέρχεται διʼ ἀνύδρων τόπων ζητοῦν ἀνάπαυσιν, καὶ μὴ ⸀εὑρίσκον λέγει· Ὑποστρέψω εἰς τὸν οἶκόν μου ὅθεν ἐξῆλθον·
25And when it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order.
καὶ ἐλθὸν ⸀εὑρίσκει σεσαρωμένον καὶ κεκοσμημένον.
26Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they come in and settle there. And the last state of that person is worse than the first."
τότε πορεύεται καὶ παραλαμβάνει ⸂ἕτερα πνεύματα πονηρότερα ἑαυτοῦ ἑπτά⸃, καὶ ⸀εἰσελθόντα κατοικεῖ ἐκεῖ, καὶ γίνεται τὰ ἔσχατα τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐκείνου χείρονα τῶν πρώτων.
