Jambres was one of the Egyptian magicians (along with Jannes) who opposed Moses and Aaron at Pharaoh's court. They tried to imitate the miracles God performed through Moses, but ultimately could not match God's power. They are mentioned by name only in the New Testament as examples of resistance against the truth.

Jambres and Jannes were among the Egyptian wise men and magicians whom Pharaoh summoned to imitate the signs that Moses and Aaron performed by God's power.
When Aaron threw his staff before Pharaoh and it turned into a snake, the Egyptian magicians managed to do the same with their secret arts, but Aaron's staff swallowed theirs.
10So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the LORD had commanded. Aaron threw his staff down before Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a serpent.

The apostle Paul mentions Jannes and Jambres by name as examples of people who resisted the truth, with a corrupt mind and a failed faith, and uses them as a warning for the last days.
