Dishan was one of the Horite tribal chiefs (clan leaders) in the mountains of Seir, in the area that later became known as Edom. He is mentioned in the genealogies in Genesis and 1 Chronicles as a son of Seir the Horite. His descendants were among the original inhabitants of the land before Esau's offspring took over the region.

[^1]: Some ancient witnesses and the parallel genealogy read "Dishan" here (compare verse 38), the seventh son of Seir.
