Seri (also known as Serah or Zerah) was one of the twin sons of Judah and Tamar. He is known for the red thread that the midwife tied around his hand at birth, even though his twin brother Perez was ultimately born first. Seri became the ancestor of the Zerahites and is mentioned in several genealogies in the Old Testament.

The Birth with the Red Thread

At birth, Zerah reached out his hand first, and the midwife tied a red thread around it. But his twin brother Perez pushed ahead and was born first.

Achan's Sin Linked to Zerah's Lineage

Achan, who took some of the devoted things from Jericho, was a descendant of Zerah through Zimri. His sin brought disaster upon Israel.
