Hem Personer Judas Iscariot Judas Iscariot was one of Jesus' twelve apostles and the one who betrayed him. He served as the group's treasurer and stole from the money bag. For thirty silver coins, he identified Jesus to the chief priests with a kiss. Afterwards, he regretted his actions, threw the money into the temple, and took his own life.

Judas held the money bag but stole from it. He criticized Mary for anointing Jesus with expensive oil.
4 But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, the one who was about to betray him, said, grek λέγει ⸀δὲ ⸂Ἰούδας ὁ Ἰσκαριώτης εἷς τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ⸃, ὁ μέλλων αὐτὸν παραδιδόναι·
5 "Why wasn't this perfume sold for three hundred denarii and the money given to the poor?" grek Διὰ τί τοῦτο τὸ μύρον οὐκ ἐπράθη τριακοσίων δηναρίων καὶ ἐδόθη πτωχοῖς;
6 He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief; he kept the money box and used to take what was put into it. grek εἶπεν δὲ τοῦτο οὐχ ὅτι περὶ τῶν πτωχῶν ἔμελεν αὐτῷ, ἀλλʼ ὅτι κλέπτης ἦν καὶ τὸ γλωσσόκομον ⸀ἔχων τὰ βαλλόμενα ἐβάσταζεν.
Judas went to the chief priests and asked what they would give him in exchange for betraying Jesus. They gave him thirty silver coins.
14 Then one of the Twelve, the one called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests grek Τότε πορευθεὶς εἷς τῶν δώδεκα, ὁ λεγόμενος Ἰούδας Ἰσκαριώτης, πρὸς τοὺς ἀρχιερεῖς
15 and said, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" They paid him thirty pieces of silver. grek εἶπεν· Τί θέλετέ μοι δοῦναι κἀγὼ ὑμῖν παραδώσω αὐτόν; οἱ δὲ ἔστησαν αὐτῷ τριάκοντα ἀργύρια.
16 And from then on he watched for an opportunity to betray him. grek καὶ ἀπὸ τότε ἐζήτει εὐκαιρίαν ἵνα αὐτὸν παραδῷ.
In Gethsemane, Judas betrayed Jesus with a kiss - the signal he had agreed upon with the soldiers.
47 While he was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, arrived, and with him a large crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests and the elders of the people. grek Καὶ ἔτι αὐτοῦ λαλοῦντος ἰδοὺ Ἰούδας εἷς τῶν δώδεκα ἦλθεν καὶ μετʼ αὐτοῦ ὄχλος πολὺς μετὰ μαχαιρῶν καὶ ξύλων ἀπὸ τῶν ἀρχιερέων καὶ πρεσβυτέρων τοῦ λαοῦ.
48 The betrayer had given them a sign: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him." grek ὁ δὲ παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς σημεῖον λέγων· Ὃν ἂν φιλήσω αὐτός ἐστιν· κρατήσατε αὐτόν.
49 He went straight up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed him. grek καὶ εὐθέως προσελθὼν τῷ Ἰησοῦ εἶπεν· Χαῖρε, ῥαββί· καὶ κατεφίλησεν αὐτόν.
50 Jesus said to him, "Friend, do what you came for." Then they came forward, laid hands on Jesus, and arrested him. grek ὁ δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτῷ· Ἑταῖρε, ἐφʼ ⸀ὃ πάρει. τότε προσελθόντες ἐπέβαλον τὰς χεῖρας ἐπὶ τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἐκράτησαν αὐτόν.
When Judas saw that Jesus was condemned, he repented, threw the silver coins into the temple, went away and hanged himself.
3 When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, grek Τότε ἰδὼν Ἰούδας ὁ ⸀παραδιδοὺς αὐτὸν ὅτι κατεκρίθη μεταμεληθεὶς ⸀ἔστρεψεν τὰ τριάκοντα ἀργύρια τοῖς ἀρχιερεῦσιν ⸀καὶ πρεσβυτέροις
4 saying, "I have sinned; I have betrayed innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? See to it yourself." grek λέγων· Ἥμαρτον παραδοὺς αἷμα ⸀ἀθῷον. οἱ δὲ εἶπαν· Τί πρὸς ἡμᾶς; σὺ ⸀ὄψῃ.
5 So he flung the silver into the temple and left; then he went away and hanged himself. grek καὶ ῥίψας τὰ ἀργύρια ⸂εἰς τὸν ναὸν⸃ ἀνεχώρησεν, καὶ ἀπελθὼν ἀπήγξατο.
