16 These were the sons of Ishmael, and these were their names according to their settlements and encampments—twelve princes, each with his own tribe. hebr אֵ֣לֶּה הֵ֞ם בְּנֵ֤י יִשְׁמָעֵאל֙ וְאֵ֣לֶּה שְׁמֹתָ֔ם בְּחַצְרֵיהֶ֖ם וּבְטִֽירֹתָ֑ם שְׁנֵים־עָשָׂ֥ר נְשִׂיאִ֖ם לְאֻמֹּתָֽם׃
Esau took Bashemath, Ishmael's daughter and Nebajoth's sister, as his wife. This linked Esau's lineage to Ishmael's family.

3 and Basemath daughter of Ishmael, the sister of Nebaioth. hebr וְאֶת־בָּשְׂמַ֥ת בַּת־יִשְׁמָעֵ֖אל אֲח֥וֹת נְבָיֽוֹת׃
At Ishmael's death at the age of 137, Nebajoth and his brothers took over leadership of the tribes. They settled from Havilah to Shur.
17 Ishmael lived a hundred and thirty-seven years. Then he breathed his last and died, and he was gathered to his people. hebr וְאֵ֗לֶּה שְׁנֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י יִשְׁמָעֵ֔אל מְאַ֥ת שָׁנָ֛ה וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים שָׁנָ֖ה וְשֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֑ים וַיִּגְוַ֣ע וַיָּ֔מָת וַיֵּאָ֖סֶף אֶל־עַמָּֽיו׃
18 His descendants settled from Havilah as far as Shur, near the border of Egypt, in the direction of Asshur; and they lived in hostility toward all their kindred. hebr וַיִּשְׁכְּנ֨וּ מֽ͏ֵחֲוִילָ֜ה עַד־שׁ֗וּר אֲשֶׁר֙ עַל־פְּנֵ֣י מִצְרַ֔יִם בֹּאֲכָ֖ה אַשּׁ֑וּרָה עַל־פְּנֵ֥י כָל־אֶחָ֖יו נָפָֽל׃ פ

Isaiah prophesies that the sheep of Kedar and Nebajot will serve God and come up to the altar as pleasing offerings in the messianic future.
