Apollos in Ephesus

The learned Jew Apollos from Alexandria comes to Ephesus and speaks with burning zeal about Jesus, even though he only knows John's baptism. Priscilla and Aquila take him in and explain the way of God more thoroughly to him. Then he travels to Achaia, where he becomes a great help to the believers and publicly refutes the Jews from the Scriptures by proving that Jesus is the Messiah.

Acts 18,24-28

24Meanwhile a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, well versed in the Scriptures.
25He had been instructed in the way of the Lord, and with burning enthusiasm he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.
26He began to speak boldly in the synagogue. When Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained the way of God to him more accurately.
27When he wanted to cross over to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples there to welcome him. On his arrival he was a great help to those who by grace had come to believe,
28for he vigorously refuted the Jews in public debate, proving from the Scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.
