The Bible in your AI assistant
Ask Claude, ChatGPT or another AI assistant about the Bible, and let it answer from the text itself. This server gives the assistant the open translations, the Hebrew and Greek source texts and the study material on this site — and every answer links back to the page it came from.
https://mcp.bible.flogvit.com/mcpStreamable HTTP · free · no account, no key · read onlyIt uses MCP (Model Context Protocol), the open standard AI assistants use to reach tools and data outside the chat. You add the server once; after that you ask as you normally would, and the assistant looks things up when it needs to.
Connect your assistant
Claude (claude.ai, desktop and mobile apps)
- Open Settings → Connectors and choose Add custom connector.
- Name it FLOGVIT.bible and paste the server address. Leave the OAuth fields empty.
- Choose Add. In a chat, open the + menu and check that FLOGVIT.bible is switched on under Connectors.
On Team and Enterprise plans, an owner first adds the connector for the organisation under Organization settings → Connectors.
ChatGPT
- On chatgpt.com, open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode.
- Back in Apps & Connectors, choose Create. Name it FLOGVIT.bible, paste the server address and choose No authentication.
- Confirm that you trust the application and choose Create. In a chat, choose + → Developer mode and add FLOGVIT.bible.
Developer mode is a beta feature of ChatGPT on the web. Which plans have it, and whether a workspace admin must allow it, is up to OpenAI.

Any client that can use remote servers over Streamable HTTP needs only the address. A client that can only start local servers reaches it through the mcp-remote bridge:
{
"mcpServers": {
"flogvit-bible": {
"command": "npx",
"args": [
"-y",
"mcp-remote",
"https://mcp.bible.flogvit.com/mcp"
]
}
}
}To try the server without an assistant, start the MCP Inspector, choose Streamable HTTP and paste the address:
npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspectorWhat the assistant can look up

The editions and the licence
The assistant reads the same editions as this site:
- OSEN — Open Source English — translated directly from the Hebrew and Greek by the free-bible project · CC BY 4.0
- OSNB — Open Source Norsk Bokmål — translated directly from the Hebrew and Greek by the free-bible project · CC BY 4.0
- OSNN — Open Source Norsk Nynorsk — translated directly from the Hebrew and Greek by the free-bible project · CC BY 4.0
- SBLGNT — SBL Greek New Testament — the Greek New Testament, edited by Michael W. Holmes · CC BY 4.0
- Tanach — Leningrad Codex (tanach.us) — the Hebrew Old Testament · free of restrictions
Using the text elsewhere
OSEN, OSNB and OSNN are free to use, also commercially, under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0). They are translated from the SBL Greek New Testament, which has the same licence, so wherever you publish text from them — a sermon, a website, an answer you share — it must say where it came from: credit the SBLGNT with a link to sblgnt.com, name the licence, and credit tanach.us for the Hebrew.
The server makes this easy: every passage it returns ends with a source line that names the licence and links to the edition. Keep that line with the text.
Privacy and limits
The server needs no account and sets no cookies. It reads only the Bible text and the study material — never anyone's notes, lists or manuscripts. Requests are logged in the same way as visits to this site.
It is free and shared by everyone who uses it. When many requests arrive at once, it answers «busy» for a few seconds, and the assistant can try again.
