Miracles of Jesus
The Blind Man in Bethsaida
People bring a blind man to Jesus in Bethsaida and ask him to touch the man. Jesus takes the man by the hand, leads him out of the village, spits on his eyes, and lays his hands on him. When asked if he sees anything, the man answers: "I see people; they look like walking trees." Jesus then lays his hands on the man's eyes again, and his sight is restored so that he sees everything clearly. Finally, Jesus sends him home with instructions not to go back into the village.
Mark 8,22-26
22They came to Bethsaida, and people brought a blind man to Jesus and begged Jesus to touch him.
23He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. Then he spit on the man's eyes, laid his hands on him, and asked, "Do you see anything?"
καὶ ἐπιλαβόμενος τῆς χειρὸς τοῦ τυφλοῦ ⸀ἐξήνεγκεν αὐτὸν ἔξω τῆς κώμης, καὶ πτύσας εἰς τὰ ὄμματα αὐτοῦ, ἐπιθεὶς τὰς χεῖρας αὐτῷ, ἐπηρώτα αὐτόν· Εἴ τι ⸀βλέπεις;
24The man looked up and said, "I see people — they look like trees walking around."
25Then Jesus laid his hands on the man's eyes again. The man looked intently, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
26Jesus sent him home, saying, "Don't even go into the village."
