10 Hosah, of the sons of Merari, had sons: Shimri the chief (though he was not the firstborn, his father made him chief), Heb וּלְחֹסָ֥ה מִן־בְּנֵי־מְרָרִ֖י בָּנִ֑ים שִׁמְרִ֤י הָרֹאשׁ֙ כִּ֣י לֹא־הָיָ֣ה בְכ֔וֹר וַיְשִׂימֵ֥הוּ אָבִ֖יהוּ לְרֹֽאשׁ׃
11 Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth. The sons and relatives of Hosah numbered thirteen in all. Heb חִלְקִיָּ֤הוּ הַשֵּׁנִי֙ טְבַלְיָ֣הוּ הַשְּׁלִשִׁ֔י זְכַרְיָ֖הוּ הָרְבִעִ֑י כָּל־בָּנִ֧ים וְאַחִ֛ים לְחֹסָ֖ה שְׁלֹשָׁ֥ה עָשָֽׂר׃
12 These were the divisions of the gatekeepers: the chief men held guard duties, like their brothers, to serve in the house of the LORD. Heb לְ֠אֵלֶּה מַחְלְק֨וֹת הַשֹּֽׁעֲרִ֜ים לְרָאשֵׁ֧י הַגְּבָרִ֛ים מִשְׁמָר֖וֹת לְעֻמַּ֣ת אֲחֵיהֶ֑ם לְשָׁרֵ֖ת בְּבֵ֥ית יְהוָֽה׃
13 They cast lots, small and great alike, according to their fathers' houses, for each gate. Heb וַיַּפִּ֨ילוּ גוֹרָל֜וֹת כַּקָּטֹ֧ן כַּגָּד֛וֹל לְבֵ֥ית אֲבוֹתָ֖ם לְשַׁ֥עַר וָשָֽׁעַר׃ פ
16 To Shuppim and Hosah fell the west, with the Shalleketh Gate on the ascending road—one watch corresponding to another. Heb לְשֻׁפִּ֤ים וּלְחֹסָה֙ לַֽמַּעֲרָ֔ב עִ֚ם שַׁ֣עַר שַׁלֶּ֔כֶת בַּֽמְסִלָּ֖ה הָעוֹלָ֑ה מִשְׁמָ֖ר לְעֻמַּ֥ת מִשְׁמָֽר׃
Hosah and the other gatekeepers cast lots for their guard duties, both small and large, according to their families, for each gate.

14 The lot for the east fell to Shelemiah. Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and his lot came out for the north. Heb וַיִּפֹּ֧ל הַגּוֹרָ֛ל מִזְרָ֖חָה לְשֶֽׁלֶמְיָ֑הוּ וּזְכַרְיָ֨הוּ בְנ֜וֹ יוֹעֵ֣ץ ׀ בְּשֶׂ֗כֶל הִפִּ֙ילוּ֙ גּֽוֹרָל֔וֹת וַיֵּצֵ֥א גוֹרָל֖וֹ צָפֽוֹנָה׃ ס
15 To Obed-edom fell the south, and to his sons the storehouse. Heb לְעֹבֵ֥ד אֱדֹ֖ם נֶ֑גְבָּה וּלְבָנָ֖יו בֵּ֥ית הָאֲסֻפִּֽים׃
