242 is not a number that is particularly highlighted in the Bible or in classical Jewish numerology (gematria) with an acknowledged symbolic meaning. The number does appear, however, in Nehemiah 11:13, where 242 brothers are mentioned as heads of priestly families in Jerusalem after returning from the Babylonian exile.
