Cast your bread upon the waters, for after many days you will find it again.

Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you do not know what disaster may come upon the earth.

When the clouds are full, they empty their rain on the earth; and whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, wherever it falls, there it lies.

Whoever watches the wind will never sow, and whoever studies the clouds will never reap.

Just as you do not know the way of the wind, or how bones are formed in a mother's womb, so you cannot know the work of God, who makes all things.

Sow your seed in the morning, and in the evening do not let your hand rest, for you do not know which will succeed, this one or that, or whether both alike will do well.

Light is sweet, and it pleases the eyes to see the sun.

However many years anyone may live, let them rejoice in them all; but let them remember the days of darkness, for there will be many. Everything that comes is fleeting.

Rejoice, young man, in your youth, and let your heart be glad in the days of your prime. Follow the ways of your heart and whatever your eyes see, but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

So banish vexation from your heart and put away trouble from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are fleeting.
