A good name is worth more than great riches; to be held in esteem is better than silver or gold.

Rich and poor meet together; the LORD is the maker of them all.

The prudent see danger and take cover, but the simple walk on and pay the price.

Humility and the fear of the LORD bring their reward: riches and honor and life.

Thorns and snares lie in the path of the crooked; whoever guards his life stays far from them.

The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; the one the LORD is angry with falls into it.

Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him.

Whoever oppresses the poor to enrich himself, or gives to the rich, will come to poverty.

Turn your ear and listen to the words of the wise; set your heart on what I teach.

Have I not written for you thirty sayings of counsel and knowledge,

Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, and do not keep company with anyone given to rage,

or you may learn his ways and bring a snare upon your own soul.

if you have nothing to pay with, why should your very bed be taken from under you?

Do not move the ancient boundary stone set up by your fathers.
