Standardausgabe When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he fell facedown and bowed low. David said, "Mephibosheth!" "I am your servant," he answered.
When Mephibosheth son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, came to David, he fell facedown in homage. David said, "Mephibosheth!" "I am your servant," he answered. The Hebrew has two distinct actions, falling on his face and bowing down. "In homage" is an abstract noun that reads stiffly aloud; "fell facedown and bowed low" keeps both verbs and flows better in oral reading.
