HoseaKapitel 11

When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.
The more they called them, the further they went away; they sacrificed to the Baals and burned incense to idols.
Yet it was I who taught Ephraim to walk, who took them in my arms; but they did not know that I healed them.
I led them with cords of human kindness, with bonds of love. I was to them like one who lifts the yoke from their jaws, and I bent down to feed them.
He will not return to the land of Egypt, but Assyria shall be his king, because they refused to repent.
The sword will whirl through his cities, destroy the bars of his gates, and devour them because of their schemes.
My people are bent on turning away from me. Though they call to the Most High, not one of them will exalt him.
How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I treat you like Admah, or make you like Zeboiim? My heart recoils within me; my compassion grows warm and tender.
I will not carry out my burning anger; I will not destroy Ephraim again. For I am God and not man, the Holy One in your midst, and I will not come in wrath.
They shall follow the LORD; he will roar like a lion. When he roars, his children will come trembling from the west.
They will come trembling like a bird from Egypt, like a dove from the land of Assyria, and I will settle them in their homes, declares the LORD.
