Sing for joy to God, our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob!

Raise a song, strike the tambourine, sound the sweet lyre and the harp.

Blow the ram's horn at the new moon, and at the full moon, on the day of our feast.

For this is a decree for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.

He set it up as a testimony for Joseph when he went out against the land of Egypt. I heard a language I did not know:

"I lifted the burden from his shoulder; his hands were freed from the basket.

In your distress you called, and I rescued you; I answered you from the thundercloud; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah

Hear, my people, and I will warn you—Israel, if only you would listen to me!

You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not bow down to any strange god.

I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open wide your mouth, and I will fill it.

But my people would not listen to my voice; Israel would have none of me.

So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts, to follow their own devices.

If only my people would listen to me, if Israel would walk in my ways,

how quickly I would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes!

Those who hate the LORD would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever.

But you I would feed with the finest wheat<fn>Hebrew: he would feed him.</fn>; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you."
