Parables of Jesus
The Lost Coin
A woman with ten silver coins loses one and searches diligently until she finds it. She celebrates with her friends and neighbors—just as there is joy among God's angels over one sinner who repents.
Luke 15,8-10
8"Or what woman who has ten silver coins, if she loses one, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?
Ἢ τίς γυνὴ δραχμὰς ἔχουσα δέκα, ἐὰν ἀπολέσῃ δραχμὴν μίαν, οὐχὶ ἅπτει λύχνον καὶ σαροῖ τὴν οἰκίαν καὶ ζητεῖ ἐπιμελῶς ἕως ⸀οὗ εὕρῃ;
9And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors and says, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin I lost.'
10In the same way, I tell you, there is joy before the angels of God over one sinner who repents."
