So then, be imitators of God, as beloved children,
and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and sacrifice to God, a fragrant aroma.
But sexual immorality, and any kind of impurity or greed, must not even be mentioned among you, as is fitting for saints.
Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are all out of place; instead, let there be thanksgiving.
For you can be sure of this: no one who is sexually immoral or impure or greedy—that is, an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for it is because of such things that the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.
So do not be partners with them.
For once you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light—
for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth—
discerning what is pleasing to the Lord.
Take no part in the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
For it is shameful even to speak of what such people do in secret.
But everything exposed by the light becomes visible,
for whatever becomes visible is light. This is why it says: "Awake, you who sleep, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you."
So watch carefully how you walk—not as unwise but as wise,
making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.
And do not get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless living; instead, be filled with the Spirit,
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your heart to the Lord,
always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
Wives, submit to your own husbands as to the Lord,
for the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ also is the head of the church—and he himself is the Savior of the body.
Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing of water with the word,
so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and without fault.
In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
For no one ever hated his own flesh; instead, he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church,
because we are members of his body.
"For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."
This mystery is profound—but I am speaking of Christ and the church.
In any case, each one of you must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
