Standardausgabe Now when Daniel learned that the document had been signed, he went home to his upper room, where the windows opened toward Jerusalem, and three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had always done.
Now when Daniel learned that the document had been signed, he went into his house, where the upstairs windows opened toward Jerusalem, and three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had always done. The Aramaic specifies an upper chamber (עִלִּיתֵהּ) in which the windows stood open; 'upstairs windows' blurs the detail of the roof-chamber where Daniel prayed. The revision keeps the oral rhythm while preserving the image.
12 Then these men came as a body and found Daniel praying and pleading before his God. Urtext Verweise Themen Notizen Manuskripte

Then they said to the king, "Daniel, one of the exiles from Judah, pays no attention to you, O king, or to the ban you have signed. Three times a day he says his prayers." 'Says his prayers' sounds colloquial and slightly dismissive; the Aramaic idiom (בָּעֵא בָּעוּתֵהּ) means to make petition, matching the accusers' legal framing of the charge.
15 When the king heard this, he was deeply distressed; he set his mind on rescuing Daniel and labored until sundown to save him. Urtext Verweise Themen Notizen Manuskripte
