Therefore, since we have this ministry by God's mercy, we do not lose heart.

Instead, we have renounced everything hidden and shameful. We do not act with cunning, nor do we distort the word of God. Rather, by setting forth the truth openly, we commend ourselves to everyone's conscience in the sight of God.

And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled among those who are perishing.

In their case the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God's glory in the face of Christ.

But we hold this treasure in clay jars, to show that this surpassing power belongs to God and not to us.

We are pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;

persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

We always carry the death of Jesus in our body, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.

For we who are alive are always being handed over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be revealed in our mortal flesh.

So then, death is at work in us, but life in you.

Since we have the same spirit of faith, in keeping with what is written—"I believed, therefore I spoke"—we also believe, and therefore we speak,

knowing that the one who raised Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and present us together with you.

For all of this is for your sake, so that grace, as it overflows to more and more people, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day.

For our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure,

since we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
