1 ChroniclesChapter 24

These were the divisions of the sons of Aaron. The sons of Aaron: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar.
Nadab and Abihu died before their father, and they had no sons, so Eleazar and Ithamar served as priests.
With the help of Zadok from the sons of Eleazar and Ahimelech from the sons of Ithamar, David divided them into their appointed order of service.
Since the sons of Eleazar had more men at the head of their families than the sons of Ithamar, they were divided accordingly: sixteen heads of ancestral houses from the sons of Eleazar, and eight from the sons of Ithamar.
They divided them by lot, one group with the other, for there were officers of the sanctuary and officers of God among both the sons of Eleazar and the sons of Ithamar.
Shemaiah son of Nethanel, a scribe from the Levites, recorded their names in the presence of the king, the officials, Zadok the priest, Ahimelech son of Abiathar, and the heads of the ancestral houses of the priests and the Levites—one ancestral house drawn for Eleazar, and one drawn for Ithamar.
The first lot fell to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,
the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,
the fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin,
the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,
the ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah,
the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,
the thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,
the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,
the seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Happizzez,
the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezkel,
the twenty-first to Jachin, the twenty-second to Gamul,
the twenty-third to Delaiah, the twenty-fourth to Maaziah.
This was their appointed order of service when they entered the house of the LORD, according to the rule handed down to them by Aaron their father, as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded him.
As for the rest of the sons of Levi: from the sons of Amram, Shubael; from the sons of Shubael, Jehdeiah.
As for Rehabiah: of the sons of Rehabiah, Isshiah was the first.
From the Izharites, Shelomoth; from the sons of Shelomoth, Jahath.
The sons of Hebron: Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, Jekameam the fourth. [^fn] [^fn]: The Hebrew text here reads simply "and the sons of, Jeriah..."; the name Hebron is supplied from the parallel list of Levite families.
The sons of Uzziel: Micah; from the sons of Micah, Shamir.
The brother of Micah was Isshiah; from the sons of Isshiah, Zechariah.
The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi, and the sons of Jaaziah his son. [^fn] [^fn]: Or "The sons of Jaaziah: Beno"; the Hebrew word beno can be read either as a personal name or as "his son."
The sons of Merari through Jaaziah his son: Shoham, Zaccur, and Ibri.
From Mahli: Eleazar, who had no sons.
From Kish: from the sons of Kish, Jerahmeel.
The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth. These were the sons of the Levites, listed by their ancestral houses.
They also cast lots, just as their relatives the sons of Aaron had done, in the presence of King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the heads of the ancestral houses of the priests and the Levites—the head of each family treated the same as his youngest brother.
