32Jesus called his disciples to him and said, "I have compassion on the crowd. They have been with me three days now and have nothing to eat, and I do not want to send them away hungry, or they may collapse on the way."

33The disciples said to him, "Where in this desolate place could we get enough bread to feed such a crowd?"

34"How many loaves do you have?" Jesus asked. "Seven," they said, "and a few small fish."

35He told the crowd to sit down on the ground,

36and he took the seven loaves and the fish, gave thanks, broke them, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds.

37They all ate and were satisfied, and they gathered up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over.

38Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.

39Then he dismissed the crowds, got into the boat, and went to the region of Magadan.

1In those days, when again a large crowd had gathered and had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to him and said,

9There were about four thousand present. Then he sent them away,

10and immediately got into the boat with his disciples and went to the district of Dalmanutha.

21From that time on Jesus began to show his disciples that he had to go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised.

22Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him: "God forbid it, Lord! This must never happen to you."

23But Jesus turned and said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me, for your mind is not on the things of God, but on the things of men."

15"But you," he said to them, "who do you say I am?"

16Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."

17Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.

18And I tell you: you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.

19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."

20Then he ordered his disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ.

27Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, "Who do people say I am?"

The Pharisees came out and began to argue with him, demanding a sign from heaven to test him.
He sighed deeply in his spirit and said, "Why does this generation demand a sign? Truly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation."
Then he left them, got back into the boat, and crossed to the other side.
The disciples had forgotten to bring bread; they had only one loaf with them in the boat.
He warned them, "Watch out — beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod."
They said to one another, "It's because we have no bread."
Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you talking about having no bread? Do you still not perceive or understand? Are your hearts hardened?
You have eyes — don't you see? You have ears — don't you hear? Don't you remember?
When I broke the five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of pieces did you gather?" "Twelve," they told him.
"And when I broke the seven loaves for the four thousand, how many baskets of pieces did you gather?" "Seven," they said.
And he said to them, "Do you still not understand?"
They came to Bethsaida, and people brought a blind man to Jesus and begged Jesus to touch him.
He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. Then he spit on the man's eyes, laid his hands on him, and asked, "Do you see anything?"
The man looked up and said, "I see people — they look like trees walking around."
Then Jesus laid his hands on the man's eyes again. The man looked intently, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
Jesus sent him home, saying, "Don't even go into the village."

What good is it for a person to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?
If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father's glory with the holy angels."
