Again I looked up, and there before me were four chariots coming out from between two mountains — and the mountains were mountains of bronze.
The first chariot had red horses, the second black horses,
the third white horses, and the fourth dappled, powerful horses.
I asked the angel who was speaking with me, "What are these, my lord?"
The angel answered me, "These are the four winds of heaven, going out after standing before the Lord of all the earth.
The chariot with the black horses goes toward the land of the north, the white ones go out after them, and the dappled ones go toward the land of the south.
And the powerful horses went out, straining to go and patrol the earth. He said, "Go, patrol the earth," and they patrolled the earth.
Then he called out to me and said, "Look, those going toward the land of the north have given my Spirit rest in the land of the north."
The word of the LORD came to me:
"Take a gift from the exiles — from Heldai, Tobijah, and Jedaiah, who have arrived from Babylon. Go that same day to the house of Josiah son of Zephaniah.
Take the silver and gold, make a crown, and set it on the head of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest.
Tell him: This is what the LORD of hosts says: Here is a man whose name is Branch; he will branch out from his place and build the temple of the LORD.
Yes, he will build the temple of the LORD, and he will bear majesty and sit and rule on his throne. He will be a priest on his throne, and between the two there will be a counsel of peace.
The crown will be a memorial in the temple of the LORD for Heldai, Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Hen son of Zephaniah.[^1] [^1]: Hebrew reads *Helem* here, understood as a variant of *Heldai* (verse 10); likewise *Hen* ("favor") may be another name for Josiah son of Zephaniah.
Those who are far off will come and help build the temple of the LORD, and you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you. This will happen if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God."
