Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?
On the heights along the road, where the paths meet, she takes her stand.
Beside the gates, at the entrance to the city, at the doorways she cries aloud:
"To you, O people, I call; my voice goes out to all humankind.
Learn prudence, you who are naive; you fools, gain understanding.
Listen, for what I speak is worthy, and my lips open to what is right.
For my mouth speaks truth, and wickedness is detestable to my lips.
Every word of my mouth is just; in them is nothing twisted or crooked.
To the discerning they are all clear, and straightforward to those who have found knowledge.
Take my instruction rather than silver, and knowledge rather than the finest gold.
For wisdom is better than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her.
I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.
The fear of the LORD is to hate evil. Pride and arrogance, the way of evil, and perverse speech I hate.
Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I am understanding, and strength is mine.
By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just.
By me princes govern, and nobles too—all who judge with justice.
I love those who love me, and those who search for me find me.
With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and righteousness.
My fruit is better than gold, than the purest gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.
I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
granting an inheritance to those who love me, and filling their treasuries.
The LORD possessed me at the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
From eternity I was established, from the first, before the earth began.
I was brought forth when there were no depths, when there were no springs abounding with water.
Before the mountains were set in place, before the hills, I was brought forth,
before he made the earth and its fields, or any of the dust of the world.
I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,
when he fixed the clouds above, when he made firm the fountains of the deep,
when he set the boundary for the sea, so the waters would not overstep his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth.
Then I was beside him, a master craftsman. I was his delight day after day, rejoicing before him always,
rejoicing in his inhabited world, and delighting in all humankind.
So now, my children, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.
Listen to instruction and become wise; do not turn away from it.
Blessed is the one who listens to me, who watches daily at my doors, waiting beside my doorposts.
For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the LORD.
But whoever fails to find me does violence to himself; all who hate me love death."
