Zebulun was the sixth and youngest son of Jacob and Leah. His name means 'dwelling' or 'honor,' and Leah gave him this name because she hoped that Jacob would now dwell with her. Zebulun became the ancestor of one of Israel's twelve tribes, which later settled in northern Canaan.
Before his death, Moses blessed the tribes. Zebulun and Issachar were blessed together, with a promise of wealth from the sea and hidden treasures in the sand.
19They summon peoples to the mountain; there they offer the sacrifices of righteousness. They feast on the abundance of the seas and on the treasures hidden in the sand.
