PsalmsChapter 68

For the choir director. Of David. A psalm. A song.
Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered; let those who hate him flee before him.
As smoke is driven away, drive them away; as wax melts before the fire, let the wicked perish before God.
But let the righteous be glad; let them exult before God, let them celebrate with joy.
Sing to God, sing praises to his name; lift up a song for him who rides through the deserts—the LORD is his name—and rejoice before him.
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his holy dwelling.
God settles the lonely in a home; he leads out the prisoners into prosperity, but the rebellious dwell in a scorched land.
O God, when you went out before your people, when you marched through the wasteland, Selah,
the earth shook, the heavens poured down rain before God—the One of Sinai—before God, the God of Israel.
You sent abundant rain, O God; you restored your inheritance when it was weary.
Your flock settled in it; in your goodness, O God, you provided for the poor.
The Lord gives the word; great is the company of women who proclaim it:
"Kings of armies flee, they flee! She who stays at home divides the spoil."
Though you lie down among the sheepfolds, you will be like the wings of a dove sheathed in silver, its pinions with shimmering gold.
When the Almighty scattered the kings there, snow fell on Zalmon.
A mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan; a mountain of many peaks is the mountain of Bashan.
Why do you look with envy, you many-peaked mountains, at the mountain God desired for his dwelling? Yes, the LORD will dwell there forever.
The chariots of God are twice ten thousand, thousands upon thousands; the Lord is among them, Sinai is in the sanctuary.
You ascended on high, you led captives in your train; you received gifts among men, even from the rebellious, that the LORD God might dwell there.
Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burdens, the God of our salvation. Selah.
Our God is a God who saves; from the Lord GOD comes escape from death.
But God will crush the heads of his enemies, the hairy crown of those who walk on in their guilt.
The Lord said, "I will bring them back from Bashan, I will bring them back from the depths of the sea,
so that you may bathe your feet in blood, and the tongues of your dogs may have their share of the enemy."
They have seen your processions, O God, the processions of my God, my King, into the sanctuary.
The singers go in front, the musicians last, between them the young women playing tambourines.
Bless God in the great congregation—the LORD, you who spring from the fountain of Israel!
There is little Benjamin, leading them, the princes of Judah in their throng, the princes of Zebulun, the princes of Naphtali.
Your God has decreed your strength; show your power, O God, as you have done for us before.
Because of your temple at Jerusalem, kings will bring you gifts.
Rebuke the beast of the reeds, the herd of bulls among the calves of the peoples, until they submit with tribute of silver. Scatter the peoples who delight in war.
Envoys will come from Egypt; Cush will stretch out its hands to God.
Kingdoms of the earth, sing to God; sing praises to the Lord, Selah,
to him who rides on the ancient heaven of heavens; behold, he thunders with his voice, a mighty voice.
Ascribe power to God, whose majesty is over Israel and whose strength is in the skies.
Awesome are you, O God, from your sanctuary; the God of Israel—he gives power and strength to the people. Blessed be God!
