Then God blessed Noah and his sons and said to them, "Be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth.

The fear and dread of you will rest on every animal of the earth and every bird of the sky, on everything that moves along the ground and all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hand.

Every living creature that moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

But you must not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.

And I will surely require an accounting for your lifeblood. I will require it from every animal, and from every human being — from each man's brother — I will require an accounting for the life of a fellow human.

Whoever sheds human blood, by humans will his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made humankind.

As for you, be fruitful and multiply; spread out over the earth and increase upon it."

Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him,

"I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you,

and with every living creature that is with you—the birds, the livestock, and all the wild animals with you, every creature that came out of the ark, every living thing on earth.

I establish my covenant with you: never again will all flesh be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to devastate the earth."

And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come:

I have set my bow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.

Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the bow appears in the clouds,

I will remember my covenant between me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all flesh.

When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh on the earth."

So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all flesh on the earth."

The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Ham was the father of Canaan.

These three were Noah's sons, and from them the whole earth was populated.

Noah, a man of the soil, was the first to plant a vineyard.

He drank some of the wine, became drunk, and lay uncovered inside his tent.

Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside.

So Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it across their shoulders, and walked in backward to cover their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned away, so that they did not see their father's nakedness.

When Noah awoke from his wine and learned what his youngest son had done to him,

he said, "Cursed be Canaan! He will be the lowest of slaves to his brothers."

He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be his slave.

May God extend Japheth's territory, and may he dwell in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave."

After the flood Noah lived three hundred and fifty years.

Noah lived a total of nine hundred and fifty years, and then he died.
