JosuaKapitel 23

A long time later, after the LORD had given Israel rest from all their enemies around them, Joshua was old, well advanced in years.
So Joshua summoned all Israel—its elders, its leaders, its judges, and its officers—and said to them: "I am old, well advanced in years.
You yourselves have seen everything the LORD your God did to all these nations for your sake, for the LORD your God is the one who fights for you.
See, I have allotted to you these nations that remain as an inheritance for your tribes, from the Jordan, along with all the nations I have cut off, as far as the Great Sea in the west.
The LORD your God himself will drive them out before you and dispossess them, and you will take possession of their land, just as the LORD your God promised you.
So be very strong to keep and to do everything written in the Book of the Law of Moses, turning aside from it neither to the right nor to the left.
Do not associate with these nations that remain among you. Do not invoke the names of their gods or swear by them; do not serve them or bow down to them.
Rather, hold fast to the LORD your God, as you have done to this day.
The LORD has driven out great and mighty nations before you; to this day no one has been able to stand against you.
One of you routs a thousand, because the LORD your God himself fights for you, just as he promised.
So watch yourselves very carefully, and love the LORD your God.
But if you turn away and bind yourselves to the rest of these nations that remain among you, intermarrying with them and mingling with them,
then know for certain that the LORD your God will no longer drive out these nations before you. Instead they will become a snare and a trap for you, a whip on your backs and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land the LORD your God has given you.
Now today I am going the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and all your soul that not one of all the good promises the LORD your God made concerning you has failed. Every one has come true; not one of them has failed.
But just as every good thing the LORD your God promised you has come to you, so the LORD will bring upon you every evil thing, until he has destroyed you from this good land he has given you.
If you violate the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you."
