Zechariah 14 is one of the most detailed prophecies concerning the Lord's day - the final conflict and the triumphant coming of the Messiah. The chapter describes dramatic cosmic and geographical changes.

Nations Gather Against Jerusalem

The Lord will gather all nations to fight against Jerusalem. The city will be captured, houses plundered, and women raped. Half the population will go into exile, but the rest will remain in the city.

The Lord Goes Out to Fight

Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations as he fights on a day of battle.

He Stands on the Mount of Olives

On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem. The mountain will split in two from east to west, forming a great valley.

The Lord Comes with His Holy Ones

The Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.

No Day or Night

On that day there will be no light; the shining stars will fade. It will be a unique day - known only to the Lord - without day or night. Toward evening it will become light.

Living Water from Jerusalem

On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem - half toward the eastern sea and half toward the western sea. This will happen both in summer and winter.

The Lord Will Be King

The Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day the Lord will be one, and his name the only name.

Punishment of the Enemies

All who attacked Jerusalem will be struck with a plague: their flesh will rot while they stand on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.

All Nations Will Worship

Every survivor from the nations that attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.

Holy to the Lord

On that day it will be written on the bells of the horses: 'Holy to the Lord.' The pots in the house of the Lord will be like the bowls before the altar. Everything will be holy.

Look, a day is coming for the LORD, when your plunder will be divided in your very midst.
I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem for battle. The city will be captured, the houses plundered, the women violated. Half the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be cut off from the city.
Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations as he fights on a day of battle.
On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two, from east to west, forming a vast valley; half the mountain will move north and half of it south.
You will flee through the valley of my mountains, for the valley between the mountains will reach to Azal. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah, king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.[^1] [^1]: The Hebrew reads "with you," addressing the reader or the city; ancient versions read "with him."
On that day there will be no light, no cold, no frost.[^1] [^1]: The Hebrew of this line is uncertain; it may also be read: "there will be no light of the shining bodies, but cold and frost."
It will be a unique day, known to the LORD alone—neither day nor night—and at evening time there will be light.
On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it to the eastern sea and half to the western sea, in summer and in winter alike.
The LORD will be king over all the earth. On that day the LORD will be one, and his name one.
The whole land will be turned into a plain from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem. But Jerusalem will rise high and remain in her place, from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the king's winepresses.
People will live in her, and never again will she be destroyed; Jerusalem will dwell in safety.
This will be the plague with which the LORD strikes all the peoples who wage war against Jerusalem: their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths.
On that day a great panic from the LORD will fall upon them. Each will seize the hand of his neighbor, and they will attack one another.
Judah too will fight at Jerusalem, and the wealth of all the surrounding nations will be gathered in—gold, silver, and clothing in great abundance.
A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.
Then all who survive of the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to celebrate the Festival of Booths.
And if any of the families of the earth does not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, no rain will fall on them.
If the people of Egypt do not go up and take part, then they too will have no rain, and on them will fall the plague with which the LORD strikes the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Booths.
This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Booths.
On that day even the bells on the horses will be inscribed "Holy to the LORD," and the cooking pots in the house of the LORD will be like the sacred bowls before the altar.
Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the LORD of hosts, and all who come to sacrifice will take them and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be any trader in the house of the LORD of hosts.
