Of Solomon. God, give the king your justice, and your righteousness to the king's son.
May he judge your people with righteousness, and your afflicted ones with justice.
May the mountains bring peace to the people, and the hills bring righteousness.
May he defend the cause of the poor among the people, save the children of the needy, and crush the oppressor.
May they fear you as long as the sun endures, and as long as the moon, through all generations.
May he come down like rain on mown grass, like showers that water the earth.
In his days may the righteous flourish, and peace abound till the moon is no more.
May he rule from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.
May the desert tribes bow down before him, and his enemies lick the dust.
May the kings of Tarshish and the distant shores bring tribute; may the kings of Sheba and Seba present their gifts.
May all kings bow down to him, and all nations serve him.
For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.
He will have pity on the weak and the needy, and save the lives of the needy.
He will redeem their lives from oppression and violence, and their blood is precious in his sight.
Long may he live! May gold from Sheba be given to him. May prayer be made for him continually, and blessings invoked on him all day long.
May grain abound throughout the land; on the tops of the mountains may its fruit wave like Lebanon, and may the people thrive in the cities like the grass of the earth.
May his name endure forever; may it continue as long as the sun. May all nations be blessed through him, and call him blessed.
Blessed be the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.
Blessed be his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and amen.
Here end the prayers of David son of Jesse.
