These are the names of the tribes: From the northern end, along the road to Hethlon to Lebo-hamath, as far as Hazar-enan on the northern border of Damascus beside Hamath, running from east to west — Dan, one portion.
Bordering Dan, from the east side to the west side — Asher, one portion.
Bordering Asher, from the east side to the west side — Naphtali, one portion.
Bordering Naphtali, from the east side to the west side — Manasseh, one portion.
Bordering Manasseh, from the east side to the west side — Ephraim, one portion.
Bordering Ephraim, from the east side to the west side — Reuben, one portion.
Bordering Reuben, from the east side to the west side — Judah, one portion.
Bordering Judah, from the east side to the west side, shall be the offering you set apart: twenty-five thousand cubits wide, and as long as one of the tribal portions from the east side to the west side. The sanctuary shall stand in the middle of it.
The offering you set apart for the LORD shall be twenty-five thousand cubits long and ten thousand wide.
To these, to the priests, shall belong the holy offering: on the north twenty-five thousand cubits, on the west ten thousand wide, on the east ten thousand wide, and on the south twenty-five thousand long. The sanctuary of the LORD shall stand in the middle of it.
It is for the consecrated priests, the sons of Zadok, who kept my charge and did not go astray when the Israelites went astray, as the Levites did.
It shall be theirs as a special gift from the offering of the land, a most holy portion, bordering the territory of the Levites.
Alongside the territory of the priests, the Levites shall have a portion twenty-five thousand cubits long and ten thousand wide. The whole length shall be twenty-five thousand and the width ten thousand.
They must not sell any of it or exchange it, nor may this choicest part of the land be transferred to others, for it is holy to the LORD.
The remaining strip, five thousand cubits wide and twenty-five thousand long, shall be for common use by the city — for dwellings and open land. The city shall be in the middle of it,
and these shall be its measurements: the north side four thousand five hundred cubits, the south side four thousand five hundred, the east side four thousand five hundred, and the west side four thousand five hundred.
The open land of the city shall extend two hundred fifty cubits to the north, two hundred fifty to the south, two hundred fifty to the east, and two hundred fifty to the west.
What remains of the length alongside the holy offering — ten thousand cubits to the east and ten thousand to the west, running alongside the holy offering — its produce shall be food for the workers of the city.
The workers of the city, drawn from all the tribes of Israel, shall cultivate it.
The whole offering shall be a square, twenty-five thousand by twenty-five thousand cubits. You shall set apart the holy offering together with the property of the city.
What remains on both sides of the holy offering and the property of the city shall belong to the prince. It shall extend eastward from the twenty-five thousand cubits of the offering to the eastern border, and westward from the twenty-five thousand to the western border, running alongside the tribal portions; this shall belong to the prince. The holy offering and the sanctuary of the temple shall be in the middle of it.
Thus the property of the Levites and the property of the city shall lie in the middle of what belongs to the prince. The area between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin shall belong to the prince.
As for the rest of the tribes: from the east side to the west side — Benjamin, one portion.
Bordering Benjamin, from the east side to the west side — Simeon, one portion.
Bordering Simeon, from the east side to the west side — Issachar, one portion.
Bordering Issachar, from the east side to the west side — Zebulun, one portion.
Bordering Zebulun, from the east side to the west side — Gad, one portion.
Along the border of Gad, on the south side, the boundary shall run from Tamar to the waters of Meribath-kadesh, then along the brook to the Great Sea.
This is the land you shall allot as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel, and these are their portions, declares the Lord GOD.
These are the exits of the city: On the north side, measuring four thousand five hundred cubits,
the gates of the city shall be named after the tribes of Israel. There shall be three gates on the north: the gate of Reuben, the gate of Judah, and the gate of Levi.
On the east side, measuring four thousand five hundred cubits, there shall be three gates: the gate of Joseph, the gate of Benjamin, and the gate of Dan.
On the south side, measuring four thousand five hundred cubits, there shall be three gates: the gate of Simeon, the gate of Issachar, and the gate of Zebulun.
On the west side, four thousand five hundred cubits long, there shall be three gates: the gate of Gad, the gate of Asher, and the gate of Naphtali.
All around, it shall measure eighteen thousand cubits. And the name of the city from that day on shall be: The LORD Is There.
