Then the angel who was speaking with me came back and woke me, like a man roused from his sleep.
He asked me, "What do you see?" I answered, "I see a lampstand, all of gold, with a bowl at the top of it. It has seven lamps on it, and seven spouts for each of the lamps at its top.
And beside it are two olive trees, one on the right of the bowl and one on its left."
Then I said to the angel who was speaking with me, "What are these, my lord?"
The angel who was speaking with me answered, "Don't you know what these are?" "No, my lord," I said.
So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might and not by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.
What are you, great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. He will bring out the capstone to shouts of 'Grace, grace to it!'"
Then the word of the LORD came to me:
"The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will finish it. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.
For who dares to despise the day of small things? They will rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. These seven are the eyes of the LORD, which range through all the earth."
Then I asked him, "What are these two olive trees on the right and the left of the lampstand?"
And I asked him again, "What are these two olive branches beside the two golden pipes that pour out the golden oil?"
He said to me, "Don't you know what these are?" "No, my lord," I said.
Then he said, "These are the two anointed ones who stand before the Lord of all the earth." [Footnote: Literally 'the two sons of fresh oil.']
