48He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on rock. When the flood came, the river burst against that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

"Do not judge, so that you will not be judged.

Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the beam in your own?

Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the while there is a beam in your own eye?

Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls in front of pigs. They will only trample them underfoot, then turn and tear you to pieces.

Which of you, if your son asks you for bread, would hand him a stone?

Or if he asks for a fish, would hand him a snake?

So if you, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you; for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many go through it.

But narrow is the gate and hard is the road that leads to life, and few find it.

Beware of false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.

You will recognize them by their fruit. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but a rotten tree bears bad fruit.

A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a rotten tree cannot bear good fruit.

Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

So then, you will recognize them by their fruit.

Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

On that day many will say to me, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and drive out demons in your name, and perform many miracles in your name?'

Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you who practice lawlessness.'
