Standardausgabe As I live, declares the Lord GOD, he shall die in Babylon, in the land of the king who put him on the throne—the king whose oath he despised, whose covenant he broke.
As I live, declares the Lord GOD, in the place where the king dwells who made him king—whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke—there in Babylon, with him, he shall die. The current sentence delays the main verb through two long insertions and ends with the piled-up phrases "there in Babylon, with him, he shall die," which is hard to follow aloud. Reordering keeps every element of the Hebrew (place of the king who enthroned him, despised oath, broken covenant, death in Babylon) while giving a clear spoken rhythm.
17 Pharaoh with his mighty army and vast company will be of no help to him in the war, when ramps are thrown up and siege walls built to cut off many lives. Urtext Verweise Themen Notizen Manuskripte
