The Spirit says plainly that in later times some will fall away from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and to the teachings of demons,

taught in the hypocrisy of liars, whose own consciences have been seared.

They forbid marriage and demand abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.

For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

since it is made holy by the word of God and by prayer.

If you lay these things before the brothers, you will be a good servant of Christ Jesus, nourished on the words of the faith and the sound teaching you have followed.

Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives' tales. Train yourself instead for godliness.

Physical training is of some value, but godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for the life that now is and the life to come.

This saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance.

For to this end we labor and suffer reproach, because we have set our hope on the living God, who is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

Command these things and teach them.

Let no one look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, to teaching.

Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given you through prophecy when the elders laid their hands on you.

Give yourself to these things; immerse yourself in them, so that everyone may see your progress.

Watch your life and your teaching closely. Persevere in them, for by doing so you will save both yourself and those who hear you.
