Be careful to do every commandment I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and go in and take possession of the land the LORD promised on oath to your fathers.
Remember the whole way the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commandments.
He humbled you and let you go hungry, then fed you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.
So know in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, the LORD your God disciplines you.
Keep the commandments of the LORD your God, walking in his ways and fearing him.
For the LORD your God is bringing you into a good land, a land of flowing streams, of springs and deep waters welling up in the valleys and hills;
a land of wheat and barley, of vines, fig trees, and pomegranates, a land of olive oil and honey;
a land where you will eat bread without scarcity and lack nothing, a land whose stones are iron and from whose hills you can mine copper.
You will eat and be satisfied, and you will bless the LORD your God for the good land he has given you.
Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God by failing to keep his commandments, his judgments, and his statutes, which I am giving you today.
when your herds and flocks have grown large, your silver and gold have increased, and everything you own has multiplied,
then your heart will grow proud and you will forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery;
who led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, with its venomous snakes and scorpions, a thirsty land with no water; who brought water for you out of flint rock;
who fed you in the wilderness with manna that your fathers had never known, to humble you and test you, so that in the end it might go well with you.
You may say in your heart, "My own power and the strength of my hand have gained me this wealth."
But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the power to gain wealth, in order to confirm his covenant, which he swore to your fathers, as he is doing this day.
But if you ever forget the LORD your God and follow other gods, serving them and bowing down to them, I testify against you today that you will surely perish.
Like the nations the LORD is destroying before you, so you will perish, because you would not listen to the voice of the LORD your God.
