The LORD said to Moses:

Tell Aaron and his sons to treat with reverence the holy offerings of the Israelites, which they set apart for me, so that they do not profane my holy name. I am the LORD.

Say to them: For all your generations, if any of your descendants, while unclean, comes near the holy offerings that the Israelites consecrate to the LORD, that person shall be cut off from my presence. I am the LORD.

No descendant of Aaron who has a skin disease or a discharge may eat of the holy offerings until he is clean. The same is true of anyone who touches something made unclean by a corpse, or a man who has had an emission of semen,

or who touches any crawling creature that makes him unclean, or any person who makes him unclean, whatever the uncleanness may be.

Whoever touches any such thing will be unclean until evening. He must not eat any of the holy offerings unless he has washed his body with water.

When the sun sets he is clean, and afterward he may eat of the holy offerings, for they are his food.

He must not eat an animal found dead or torn by wild beasts, which would make him unclean. I am the LORD.

The priests must keep my charge, so that they do not incur guilt and die for profaning it. I am the LORD, who makes them holy.

No outsider may eat the holy offering. Neither a guest in a priest's house nor a hired worker may eat it.

But if a priest buys a slave with his own money, that slave may eat of it, and so may those born in his household; they may eat his food.

If a priest's daughter marries someone outside a priestly family, she may not eat of the holy contributions.

But if a priest's daughter is widowed or divorced, has no children, and returns to live in her father's house as in her youth, she may eat her father's food. No outsider, however, may eat it.

Anyone who eats a holy offering by mistake must repay it, adding a fifth to its value, and give it to the priest.

The priests must not profane the holy offerings of the Israelites, which they present to the LORD,

and so bring guilt upon the people when they eat what is holy. For I am the LORD, who makes them holy.

The LORD said to Moses:

Speak to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites and say to them: When anyone of the house of Israel, or a foreigner living in Israel, presents an offering to the LORD as a burnt offering, whether to fulfill a vow or as a freewill gift,

it must be a male without blemish, from the cattle, the sheep, or the goats, if it is to be accepted for you.

You must not offer anything with a defect, for it will not be accepted for you.

When anyone brings a fellowship offering to the LORD from the herd or the flock, to fulfill a vow or as a freewill gift, it must be without blemish to be accepted; it must have no defect at all.

You must not offer to the LORD anything blind, injured, maimed, or having a wart, a running sore, or scabs. You must not place any of these on the altar as a food offering to the LORD.

An ox or a sheep with a deformed or stunted limb you may present as a freewill offering, but it will not be accepted for a vow.

You must not offer to the LORD an animal whose testicles are bruised, crushed, torn, or cut. You must not do this anywhere in your land,

nor may you accept such animals from a foreigner to present as the food of your God. They are deformed and defective, and they will not be accepted for you.

The LORD said to Moses:

When a calf, a lamb, or a kid is born, it must remain with its mother seven days. From the eighth day on it will be acceptable as a food offering to the LORD.

Do not slaughter a cow or a sheep together with its young on the same day.

When you sacrifice a thank offering to the LORD, offer it in a way that will be accepted for you.

It must be eaten that same day; leave none of it until morning. I am the LORD.

Keep my commands and do them. I am the LORD.

Do not profane my holy name. I must be acknowledged as holy among the Israelites. I am the LORD, who makes you holy,

who brought you out of the land of Egypt to be your God. I am the LORD.
