Say to the Israelites: When someone sins unintentionally by doing any one of the things the LORD has commanded must not be done—
if it is the anointed priest who sins and so brings guilt on the people, he shall bring to the LORD a bull from the herd, without blemish, as a sin offering for the sin he has committed.
He shall bring the bull to the entrance of the tent of meeting, before the LORD, lay his hand on its head, and slaughter it before the LORD.
Then the anointed priest shall take some of the bull's blood and carry it into the tent of meeting.
He shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it seven times before the LORD, in front of the curtain of the sanctuary.
He shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense that stands before the LORD in the tent of meeting; the rest of the bull's blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
He shall remove all the fat of the bull of the sin offering: the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on them,
the two kidneys with the fat on them at the loins, and the lobe of the liver, which he shall take away with the kidneys—
just as they are removed from the ox of the fellowship offering. The priest shall burn them on the altar of burnt offering.
all the rest of the bull—he shall carry outside the camp to a clean place, to the ash heap, and burn it there on a wood fire. It shall be burned on the ash heap.
If the whole congregation of Israel sins unintentionally, and the matter escapes the notice of the assembly, so that they do what any of the LORD's commandments forbids and incur guilt,
then, when the sin they have committed becomes known, the assembly shall bring a bull from the herd as a sin offering and present it before the tent of meeting.
The elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the bull's head before the LORD, and it shall be slaughtered before the LORD.
Then the anointed priest shall bring some of the bull's blood into the tent of meeting.
He shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle it seven times before the LORD, in front of the curtain.
He shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar that stands before the LORD in the tent of meeting; the rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance of the tent of meeting.
He shall do with this bull exactly as he did with the bull of the sin offering. In this way the priest shall make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven.
Then he shall carry the bull outside the camp and burn it as he burned the first bull. This is the sin offering for the assembly.
and then the sin he has committed becomes known to him, he shall bring as his offering a male goat without blemish.
He shall lay his hand on the goat's head and slaughter it at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered before the LORD. It is a sin offering.
The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out the rest of its blood at the base of that altar.
He shall burn all its fat on the altar, like the fat of the fellowship offering. So the priest shall make atonement for him for his sin, and he will be forgiven.
If one of the common people sins unintentionally, doing what any of the LORD's commandments forbids, and so incurs guilt,
and then the sin he has committed becomes known to him, he shall bring as his offering a female goat without blemish for the sin he has committed.
He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter it at the place of the burnt offering.
The priest shall take some of its blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.
He shall remove all its fat, as the fat is removed from the fellowship offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the LORD. So the priest shall make atonement for him, and he will be forgiven.
He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter it as a sin offering at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered.
The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering, and pour out the rest of its blood at the base of the altar.
He shall remove all its fat, as the fat of the lamb is removed from the fellowship offering, and the priest shall burn the fat pieces on the altar on top of the offerings made by fire to the LORD. So the priest shall make atonement for him for the sin he has committed, and he will be forgiven.
