Choose which rendering to use for this verse:
Default version When they heard this, they fell silent, and they glorified God, saying, "So then, God has granted even to the Gentiles the repentance that leads to life."
When they heard this, they had no further objection and glorified God, saying, "So then, God has granted repentance unto life to the Gentiles as well." ἡσύχασαν means "they became quiet / fell silent"; "had no further objection" is an interpretive paraphrase that loses the vivid narrative image. Also, "repentance unto life" is somewhat archaic for oral reading; "the repentance that leads to life" is clearer while remaining faithful to εἰς ζωήν.
