On that day you will say: "I thank you, LORD. Though you were angry with me, your anger has turned away, and you have comforted me.

See, God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. For the LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation."

With joy you will draw water from the springs of salvation.

On that day you will say: "Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the peoples what he has done, proclaim that his name is exalted.

Sing to the LORD, for he has done glorious things; let this be known in all the earth.

This creates a deliberate parallel to Israel’s deliverance from Egypt and suggests that future salvation will be as significant as the exodus. The word "zimrat" (זִמְרָת) has been debated among scholars—some link it to "song of praise" (from זמר), others to "strength" (possibly from a different root). This ambiguity gives the verse a rich resonance.

The image of drawing water with joy "from the wells of salvation" (verse 3) is rooted in the life-giving significance of water in the dry climate of the Middle East. This imagery later acquired ritual meaning in Jewish practice, especially during the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), when priests drew water from the Siloam Pool amid great celebrations. Although this ritual developed in its full form after Isaiah’s time, the prophet’s words may have inspired or provided a theological foundation for this custom.
