The LORD said to Moses and Aaron:
from thirty years old up to fifty years old—everyone who is fit for service, to do the work of the tent of meeting.
When the camp is to set out, Aaron and his sons shall come and take down the veil that screens the Most Holy Place, and cover the ark of the testimony with it.
Over that they shall put a covering of fine leather, spread a cloth of solid blue on top, and set its poles in place.
Over the table of the Presence they shall spread a blue cloth and set on it the plates, the dishes for incense, the bowls, and the pitchers for the drink offering; the bread of the continual offering shall also be on it.
They shall spread a scarlet cloth over these, cover the table with a covering of fine leather, and set its poles in place.
They shall take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand for the light, with its lamps, its tongs, its trays, and all the vessels for its oil with which it is tended.
Then they shall wrap it and all its utensils in a covering of fine leather and place it on the carrying frame.
They shall take all the utensils used for the service in the sanctuary, wrap them in a blue cloth, cover them with a covering of fine leather, and place them on the carrying frame.
They shall remove the ashes from the altar and spread a purple cloth over it.
On it they shall lay all the utensils used in serving at the altar: the fire pans, the forks, the shovels, and the basins—all the utensils of the altar. Then they shall spread over it a covering of fine leather and insert its poles.
When Aaron and his sons have finished covering the holy things and all the holy furnishings as the camp sets out, then the Kohathites shall come to carry them. But they must not touch the holy things, or they will die. These are the things the Kohathites are to carry in the tent of meeting.
Eleazar son of Aaron the priest shall have charge of the oil for the light, the fragrant incense, the regular grain offering, and the anointing oil. He shall have oversight of the whole tabernacle and everything in it, including the holy things and their utensils."
Do this for them, so that they may live and not die when they come near the most holy things: Aaron and his sons shall go in and assign each man his work and what he is to carry.
from thirty years old up to fifty years old. Register all who are fit for service, to do the work of the tent of meeting.
They shall carry the curtains of the tabernacle, the tent of meeting with its covering and the covering of fine leather that goes over it, the screen for the entrance to the tent of meeting,
the hangings of the courtyard, the screen for the entrance at the gate of the courtyard surrounding the tabernacle and the altar, their ropes, and all the equipment for their service. They shall do everything that needs to be done with these things.
All the service of the Gershonites shall be under the direction of Aaron and his sons, both what they carry and all their other work. You shall assign to them the responsibility for everything they carry.
This is the service of the Gershonite clans at the tent of meeting, and their duties shall be under the oversight of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest.
from thirty years old up to fifty years old—all who are fit for service, to do the work of the tent of meeting.
This is what they are charged to carry as their whole service at the tent of meeting: the frames of the tabernacle, its crossbars, posts, and bases,
as well as the posts of the surrounding courtyard with their bases, pegs, and ropes, and all their equipment and everything used with them. You shall assign by name the items each man is charged to carry.
This is the service of the Merarite clans, their whole service at the tent of meeting, under the oversight of Ithamar son of Aaron the priest."
So Moses, Aaron, and the leaders of the congregation registered the Kohathites by their clans and their ancestral houses,
from thirty years old up to fifty years old—all who were fit for service, for work at the tent of meeting.
The number registered, by their clans, was 2,750.
These were all who were registered from the Kohathite clans, everyone who served at the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron registered at the LORD's command through Moses.
from thirty years old up to fifty years old—all who came to serve, to do the work at the tent of meeting.
The number registered, by their clans and ancestral houses, was 2,630.
These were all who were registered from the Gershonite clans, everyone who served at the tent of meeting, whom Moses and Aaron registered at the LORD's command.
The Merarites were registered by their clans and their ancestral houses,
from thirty years old up to fifty years old—all who were fit for service, for work at the tent of meeting.
These were all who were registered from the Merarite clans, whom Moses and Aaron registered at the LORD's command through Moses.
So all the Levites whom Moses, Aaron, and the leaders of Israel registered by their clans and their ancestral houses,
from thirty years old up to fifty years old—everyone who came to do the work of serving and carrying at the tent of meeting—
At the LORD's command they were registered through Moses, each man to his own task and his own load; so they were counted, as the LORD had commanded Moses.
